Margaret Rickell Obituary

Margaret Kathryn (Katie) Rickell 91, passed away February 19, 2023 at CLV-AL/Bridging Life Hospice Westminster. Katie was born April 18, 1931, was the daughter of the late Charles Elliot and Helen Weller Smith. She was the wife for 63 years of the late Raymond Bernard Rickell, the sister of the late Charles, Kenneth, Edmund, Donald and Agnes Smith. She was a graduate of St. John Catholic HS and a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church. Katie was a retiree from Random House in 1992. She is survived by a brother Richard Smith, daughters Kathy Domina (Sal), Patti Totten (Leo), Maddy Small (Ryan), Geri Krichten (Neal) and a son Raymond Rickell (Chris), eight grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Her body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board. Interment will be private and an Intention for the repose mass will be held at a later date.

I worked with Katie at Random House and she was a very sweet person. I'll always remember her love of anything with elephants. My sincere condolences to her family at this difficult time.
