Mary J. Brocato

Mary Jean Callahan Brocato, 85, of Eldersburg, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born Aug. 1, 1927, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Callahan and Jeanette Cook Callahan. She was the wife of the late Charles Brocato.

She was a homemaker and had been a sales associate at Hochschild-Kohn. She volunteered for more than 19 years at Carroll Hospital Center, and was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Catholic Community. She enjoyed cross-stitch, reading, walking, swimming and traveling.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Dale Bennett, of Sykesville; a son-in-law, Dave Blasco Sr., of Sykesville; stepchildren Carl, Elizabeth and Chris Brocato, Annette Epperly and Cathy Johnson; a brother, Edward J. Callahan; grandchildren David Blasco, Brooke Bennett and Keri Bennett; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Blasco; and a sister, Nancy McConney.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral liturgy will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Community, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg.
