Michael Arthur Obituary



Michael Ward Arthur, 50, Rockville, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at home.

Born March 7, 1962, in Cumberland, he was the son of Robert Charles Arthur and Patricia Flanagan Arthur, formerly of Cumberland. He was the husband of Shaari Sheeskin Arthur, his wife of 23 years.

He had a long career as a software quality assurance technician and systems analyst for several companies, including Fannie Mae.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, with a minor in communications at Towson University in 1984; and a Master of Science degree in business management at the University of Maryland University College in 2000.

He enjoyed traveling and visited many destinations including England, Germany, Israel, South Korea and much of the United States. He was an avid science fiction fan, philosopher, and debater on politics and current events.

Surviving, in addition to his parents and wife, are a son, Daniel Michael Se Dong Arthur; brother Robert S. Arthur and wife Tracy Hastings Arthur, of Berlin; and nieces and nephew Jessica Bobbi Arthur, Kristopher Staton and wife Sheila, and Bethany Staton Green and husband Josh; and many other family members and friends.

A private family graveside service was held Dec. 21, 2012, at  Buckingham Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Berlin, with the Revs. Matthew Trask and Gary Baer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Buckingham Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund, P.O. Box 248, Berlin, MD 21811.

Arrangements were handled by Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.
