Dr. Orlando Sanidad DDS

1938 - 2021

Dr. Orlando (Sonny; Dodie) Reyes Sanidad, DDS, KHS (82) of Finksburg, MD passed away peacefully at his home on January 23, 2021. Born May 12, 1938 in Manila, Philippines, he was the son of the late Valentin and Adela (Reyes) Sanidad and the devoted husband of Dr. Noemi Fe Sanidad. Dr. Sanidad emigrated to the United States in 1962 as a Fellow in Pedodontics at the Guggenheim Dental Clinic in NYC. He completed his graduate studies at New York University, School of Dentistry in 1972. Dr. Sanidad moved to Maryland in 1973 and opened his first Dental Practice in the Patterson Park area of Baltimore City. He opened his second practice in Hampstead, MD in 1980. The practice was still active up until September 2020 when Dr. Sanidad was forced to retire due to health concerns. He was a Founding President of The Eastern Association of Filipino Dentists in America, a member of the National Association of Filipino Dentists in America, Knights of Columbus, Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, American Dental Association and the Carroll County Dental Association. He enjoyed playing Tennis, Chess and the Piano. He was a deeply spiritual man and had a very charitable heart. Together with other dental colleagues he founded "Mission of Mercy". A group committed to bringing free medical supplies and dental treatments to remote areas of the Philippines as well as poor and uninsured patients in the Westminster area. Their charitable mission continues to this day. With the help of family and friends he organized the "Rosary Crusade" in 1989. This group promotes faithfully praying the Rosary and the veneration of Our Lady of Fatima. The crusade is still active among families in Carroll and Baltimore County. Dr. Sanidad wanted to extend a personal thank you for the prayers he received from family and friends; and the spiritual support he received from Bishop Rick Spencer, Fr. Dan kelly, and Fr. Bob Spencer. Dr. Sanidad will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Dr. Sanidad is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Ruben Sanidad and sister, Esmerelda Lopez. Surviving in addition to his loving wife, is his brother, Amante Sanidad of HI; niece, Carezza Sanidad of NJ; two nephews, Gligorich Sanidad of HI, Frederick Sanidad of HI and 7 grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at The Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead, MD. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 11:00 am at the St. John's Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, MD with Bishop Rick Spencer officiating.
