Robert L. Koetzle

1938 - 2021

On Nov. 7, 2021, at his home in Eldersburg, Robert "Bob" L. Koetzle passed peacefully and amongst family members on to a better life. He was born July 20, 1938 in Baltimore to the late Catherine (Jackson) and Frederick Koetzle. He had been a Carroll County resident since the late 1960s and worked as a machinist in the sheet metal industry for 30 years. In 1999, he married Phyllis (McManus) Wright and became a step-father to Kasey Wright. In addition to his roles as loving husband and step-dad, Bob was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and cousin, a loyal friend, a helpful neighbor, and, according to those who knew him, just an all-around good guy. He was also a very proud and dedicated Baltimore Ravens fan. Bob is survived by Phyllis and Kasey, sister Celeste Carroll of Thurmont, nephews Clint Carroll and wife Jessica of Winchester, VA and Jim Cofer and wife Kim of TN, nieces Danna Carroll of Baltimore, Jeannie Cofer and partner Lori Mitchell of MS, and Jennifer Lepard and husband Randy of TN, uncle Andrew Jackson and wife Nancy of NC, and several cousins, friends, two great nieces, and a great nephew. Awaiting him in the next life were his parents, his sister Barbara Cofer of TN, and many beloved relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Lewistown United Methodist Church, 11032 Hessong Bridge Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788 at 10 AM on Saturday, Dec. 4, and a Celebration of Life ceremony to be officiated by Pastor Katy Mossburg will follow at 11 AM. Bob was a lifelong admirer of bald eagles; thus, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, which works to protect bald eagles on the east coast, at www.friendsofblackwater.org/join-donate.html.
