Ronald Corbin Obituary

Ronald "Ron" James Corbin, 81, of Taneytown, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown, MD of dementia-related complications. Born April 18,1944 in Westminster, MD, he was the son of the late James Calvin Corbin and Muriel Maxine Corbin. Married for 39 years, Ron was the "soulmate" of Jan Benton Roop Corbin. Ron was a 1962 graduate of Taneytown High School and a veteran of the US Navy. He had an extensive maintenance career working for Carroll County Board of Education, Hoffman Homes for Youth, Antrim 1844, and the City of Taneytown, from which he retired in 2009. Ron enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, golfing, gardening, lawn care, and "soaking up the sunshine." He was a parishioner of Emmanuel Baust United Church of Christ, Westminster, MD. Ron was a long-standing member of the Harney V.F.W. Post #6918, Taneytown American Legion Post #120, and Mayberry Game Protective Association. In addition to his wife Jan Corbin, Ron is survived by daughter Lesli Corbin and husband Stuart Spector of Rehoboth Beach, DE, daughter Michele Watt of Rehoboth Beach, DE, grandson Christopher Murray of Swarthmore, PA, granddaughter Alexandra Murray of Beltsville, MD, sister Cherie Stonesifer, Westminster, MD, brother-in-law Philip Roop and wife Kelli, New Windsor, MD, five nieces, three nephews and a cadre of loving friends. He was preceded in death by sister Doris B. Myers, and brother Harold L. "Sonny" Corbin. Per his request, his body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board for medical education and research. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Emmanuel Baust United Church of Christ, 2930, Old Taneytown Road, Westminster, MD. The service will also be live-streamed and available online at https://www.ebucc.com. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Roger W. Wilmer, Jr., Pastor.
