Samuel Talbert Obituary



Mr. Samuel Clinton Talbert, 91, of Plantation, FL, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his home. Born October 11, 1923 in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Samuel and Clara Slonaker Talbert. He was the husband of Phyllis Sauble Talbert, his wife of 73 years. Mr. Talbert was a 1941 graduate of New Windsor High School. He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was a member of Plantation Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was employed with Bell South and following retirement he was a stockbroker with Waddell and Reed of Ft. Lauderdale. He enjoyed golf and bowling. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, C. Joan Howell of Guntersville, AL; 2 grandsons, Eric Long and wife Jeri and Wesley Long and wife Jordana, all of Guntersville; 4 great grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn Poe, of California, MD. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Talbert Enright. A funeral service will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, with Rev. Anne Durboraw, pastor of St. Luke's (Winters) Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Winters Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 447, New Windsor, MD 21776.
