Sean Malone Obituary

Sean Patrick Malone passed away on March 28, 2024, in Brambleton, VA, after living with glioblastoma for 18 months. Sean was born on July 11, 1969 in Baltimore, MD, and attended Westminster High School (Class of '87) and Towson University. A lifelong learner who was never afraid to teach himself a new topic or skill, Sean had a diverse career, working as an international exporter, an accountant, a band manager, a software developer, and an IT director. In recent years, Sean turned his passion for wine into his livelihood as owner of the Ashburn Wine Shop, Wine Bar, and Bistro, creating a local treasure for wine connoisseurs. Sean loved sunsets, blue crabs, and was most in his element at the beach. He enjoyed comedy and will be remembered for his big, contagious laugh. Having apprenticed in the art of cards with his Granddad, Sean played endless hands of Pitch with his children, siblings, and "the cousins." He was a lifelong and loyal fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. But most of all, Sean loved his family and good times, often hosting "all weekend long" celebrations of birthdays and holidays. Sean was always happiest with a house full of family and friends, good food (especially his mom's black bottom cupcakes) and drink, and lots of laughter. Sean is survived by his two children, Abby and Cameron Malone, whom he adored; his loving mother, Phyllis Malone; his siblings, Scott Malone (and partner, Donna Feher), Matthew Malone (and wife, Mariah Bauer), and Kelly Ingalls (and husband, Andrew Ingalls); nieces and nephews Aidan Malone, Eden and Gideon Malone, and Luke Bouscaren; devoted mother of his children and co-parent Jeri Malone; and partner, Sharon Smith. Sean is predeceased by his grandparents, Matilda and Richard Strevig. He will be greatly missed by many. A memorial to celebrate Sean's life will be held in the coming weeks. Sean chose to have a fund established in his name at the Glioblastoma Research Organization. Sending love & sympathy to the Malone family. Fondly remembering countless games of backyard kickball, flying kites and riding bikes in our neighborhood. We had alot of fun back in the day. Rest easy Sean.

I remember Sean from school. He seemed like a good guy. While I did not know him well, he seemed liked by others. Shame he has passed on.

I was very sorry to read of Sean's passing. I worked with him at AIAA for a few years and always found him to be an intelligent, passionate, and hardworking person. May his memory be a blessing.

First to Sean´s family, I´m extremely sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for all of you. Sean was one of a kind. You felt his presence. Sean and my family were extremely close. He came to my kids graduations their weddings. We spent many weekends playing tonk a card game he taught us. We had many laughs, long talks. He became a part of our family. Over the years we lost touch with each other and this will forever haunt me. Ready easy and keep the laughs going up in heaven. Cheers to a great man!!
