Shawn E. Null

Shawn Edward Null, age 50, of Westminster, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home. Born December 4, 1967 in Harford County, he was the son of Gertrude "Gertie" Brinegar Null Hill of New Windsor and the late Edward Eugene Null Sr. and the stepson of Pastor Ted Hill. He was the companion of Holly Lee for 23 years. Shawn attended Westminster and North Carroll high schools. He worked as an arborist for the past 30 years. He was a prior member of Church of the Open Door, where he was baptized and later attended Crosswinds Church. Shawn was an avid golfer and hit a hole-in-one at Wakefield Valley Golf Course. He also loved fishing, going to the ocean, refinishing antiques, watching sports including Ravens football and NASCAR, and riding his motorcycle. He was a very generous person, loved helping anyone in need, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces. Surviving, in addition to his mother, step-father and companion, are daughter, Brittany Steinhilber; sisters, Ruth Ann Lewis Day and Rick Caldwell of Hampstead, Cynthia Lewis of Frederick; brothers, W. David Null and wife Missey of Westminster, John P. Lewis and wife Jean of Hanover, PA, Gene Null Jr. and wife Linda of Westminster, Christian J. Null of Florida; 6 nieces and 3 nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be remembered by his best friend, Mike Nickol. He was preceded in death by brothers, James Robert Lewis, Okey Layton Lewis Jr.; and niece, Patricia Lewis of Westminster. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Church of God Cemetery, Uniontown.
