Kenneth Cundiff Jr. Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" Carson Cundiff Jr., 75, of Liberty, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset.

He was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Danville, son of the late Kenneth "Carson" Cundiff Sr. and Ethel Whitehouse Cundiff. He was a teacher for 25 years, earning his Master's Degree and his Rank 1 through Eastern Kentucky University. He taught fifth-grade at Meade County, sixth-grade at Johnson Elementary of Fayette County, then substituted for years in all grades in the Casey County School System. Ken married Tishana Lee Hodges on Aug. 8, 1981, in Phil community of Casey County. He was serving as treasurer of Casey County Retired Teachers Association and was a past president and vice president of the Meade County Jaycees. Ken was named a Kentucky Colonel and was Volunteer of the Year in the Casey County and Mid Cumberland District Retired Teacher Association in 2014. Ken was an elder and disciple of Christ in the First Christian Church of Liberty, where he was a devoted long-time member.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Tishana Lee Hodges Cundiff, mother of Kenneth Carson "Trey" Cundiff III, Heather Lee Cundiff and Benjamin Wade Cundiff (Michelle); his ex-wife, Sandra Leonard Cundiff, mother of Kimberly Lane Cundiff and Amy Paige Cundiff Tavakouli-Klepp (Brian); a brother, David Whitehouse Cundiff (Beverly); grandchild, Lumen Klepp; two nieces, Tammy Gossage (Joe) and Sarah Bailey Duckworth (Josh); two nephews, David Neal Cundiff (Georgiana) and Christopher Lee Bailey (Kelly); and beloved cousin, Ann Spoonamore Florence.

A celebration of the life service for Kenneth "Ken" Carson Cundiff Jr. is at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at First Christian Church of Liberty with the Rev. Homer Hecht and Dr. Bob Mallory officiating.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. until time for memorial service Wednesday at the church.

The family requests donations made to a variety of different charities.
