Bearl Carlisle Obituary
October 21, 1933 – January 17, 2024
Bearl Carlisle was born in Bisbee, AZ. His family relocated to Idaho when he was a teenager and he graduated from Wallace High School.
Bearl proudly served his country as a Navy SeaBee from 1956 to 1966. He did tours in Cuba, Newfoundland, Spain, Guam, Japan and Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned to Kellogg, ID.
Bearl was an avid skeet and trapshooter at the Wallace-Kellogg Gun Club where he also served on the Board of Directors. Among Bearl's many achievements in this area are winning the Governor's Handicap at the Idaho State Shoot in Lewiston in 1968.
Bearl began his career as a plumber with Kellogg Plumbing & Heating. After joining the Northwest Plumbing and Pipefitters Union, he worked many jobs including the petroleum refinery in Bellingham, the papermill in Usk and various schools and hospitals.
It was the gun club where Bearl met Margaret White. Bearl and Maggie were married in 1969. They spent the next 54 years together raising and praising "their" family. The Carlisles moved to Post Falls, ID in 1978. Upon retirement, Bearl and Maggie relocated to Hayden, ID and were active residents at the Heatherstone Retirement Community. He worshiped with his brothers and sisters in Christ at Peace Lutheran Church in Post Falls, ID.
Bearl was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and his wife, Maggie. He will be dearly missed by his step children, Lee (Ed) Sonderman, Liberty Lake, WA, Joni (Rick) Sorenson, Spokane, WA, and Jim (Sherri) White, Pinehurst, ID. Other survivors include six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Bearl loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and bowling. He and his wife Maggie were a magical team combining his woodworking and her painting skills. Together they explored Canada, the West Coast and Arizona in their various travel trailers.
To celebrate Bearl Carlisle's life, please join his family at Peace Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Rd., Post Falls, ID, on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church in Post Falls, ID or Horizon Hospice.
