Dale Kreager Obituary
Dale V. Kreager, 91
Dale V. Kreager passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 16th at Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho. Dale was born in Spokane, Washington, the youngest of seven children to Versal and Ethel (Bishop) Kreager. Dale graduated from North Central High School where he was a star pitcher, while also playing football and basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Lamb in 1953. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. After his service he attended Kinman Business school in Spokane before moving back to California to work for his father-in-law at the Kirby vacuum company for four years. In 1961 they returned to the inland northwest, raising their three children in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Dale worked with his brother Ray at Kreager Asphalt, working on many local projects including building the retaining wall at Lake Coeur d'Alene. He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, playing pool, hunting with his sons, and visiting with his friends at the Lakers. He was a member of the Shriners, the Elks, and the Eagles Lodges.
Dale was an animal lover and had many beloved pets. His generosity was felt by all who were close to him. Dale welcomed everyone with an open heart and their home was a revolving door for all those in need of a place to stay. Their home of over fifty years served as a focal point for family and friends. He was especially proud of, and celebrated in the successes of his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; all six of his siblings: June, Jean, Jack, Eloise, Ray, and Donna; three nephews and a niece; and his dogs Scooter and Roxy. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Carolyn; daughter Rosalyn (Charlie) Wilson; two sons, Mike (Laurie) Kreager and Kip (Robin) Kreager; nine grandchildren: Jeff (Sonia), Shea, Cher (Pete), Bryce (Crystal), Amee (Jeff), Sally (Ryan), Chelsey (Billy), Cory, and Angie (Jason); twenty great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of North Idaho, who took great care of him in his final days.
