Helena Kahler Obituary
Helena was born March 3, 1936, to John and Mary (Ferreira) Vieira in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Her parents migrated to the West Indies from Portugal's Madeira Island. She was always proud of her Portuguese heritage, but adapted to the Caribbean island culture of Calypso music, Carnival, tropical fruits and the surrounding beaches that she visited on a regular basis.
Helena was a hard worker at a young age, and was a very successful realtor in California and Idaho for over 30 years. She was very well liked and respected in the industry, and was honored to receive the Hall of Fame award for her outstanding achievement in real estate.
Living in California for many years, she also fell in love with the mountains and purchased a second home in Green Valley Lake near Big Bear. This opened the door for her move to Coeur D'Alene where she enjoyed the mountains and lakes, and all that the community had to offer. Helena organized fundraisers, was involved with the Symphony and volunteered to help the Republican Party. She was an avid supporter and participant in the Blooms Day Race for a few years.
Helena was in the right place to enjoy her love for water sports with her jet skis and boat, and always wanted to share that time with her family and friends. She never knew a stranger.
Her love for her family was the highlight of her life. She will live forever in our hearts.
Helena's church home for many years was Candlelight Christian Fellowship, which had a positive impact with her continued growth and faith in Christ.
Her four siblings preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Jim (and Halina) Hogue, John (and Emily) Hogue and Jennifer (and Andy) Giles; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her husband, Ron Kahler.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Candlelight Christian Fellowship at 5725 N. Pioneer Drive, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83815.
