Linda R. Mitchell, 80
Celebrating a Life Well Lived Linda Ruth Mitchell of Post Falls was called home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 10, 2025. Born on July 11, 1945, to Charles M. and June Mitchell.
Linda attended elementary school in Coeur d'Alene and graduated from Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley in 1963. She then moved to Seattle, where she attended Seattle Pacific University and enjoyed a career as a legal assistant at Lane Powell until her retirement. In 2018, she moved to Post Falls. Among Linda's greatest joys was seeing as much of the world as possible. Her travels included several trips to Israel, one recently with her church; Europe, from Norway to Greece and England to Morocco; parts of Central America and the Caribbean; Brazil; several provinces in China; Dubai; and African safaris. A few of her special moments included encounters with wildlife, such as petting a Panda in China, swimming with dolphins in Mexico, swimming with manatees in Florida, feeding a wild giraffe a carrot from a treehouse in Kenya, and being kissed by a camel in Egypt. Augmenting this adventurous spirit was a distinct intrepid nature that prompted her to go river rafting on the Pacuaré and even to jump out of an airplane to experience the thrill of skydiving.
Breaking her leg snow-skiing did not slow her down. Linda was active in politics, serving as a precinct chairwoman for several terms and proudly increasing the number of Republican voters. In appreciation of her work, she was invited to attend President G.W. Bush's inauguration. In 1993, she served as an organizer for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Seattle. Linda loved history and used her knowledge to influence others they change the world for the better. Throughout her life, she touched countless lives through her volunteer work with the Magnolia Guild at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle and with the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Post Falls.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Rodney. She is survived by a niece, Kim Mitchell of Post Falls; a brother, Marshall (Debbie) of Coeur d'Alene; a sister-in-law, Kathy Mitchell; a niece, Kerrie of Oregon; nephews, Kevin of Post Falls, and Chad (Brittany) of Coeur d'Alene, and her three cats.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at Yates Funeral Home – Coeur d'Alene Chapel (744 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814). The family kindly requests donations in honor of Linda be made to Companions Animal Center, 10275 N Atlas Rd, Hayden, ID 83835.
