Ronald Taylor Obituary

Ronald Taylor, 77

Ronald (Ron, Ronnie) Taylor was born September 21, 1946 in Fresno California, to Dorothy and Archie Taylor Jr. In his early years, the Taylor family moved to East Bakersfield, to raise Ron and his younger brother Geary. Ron graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1964, where he played baseball and football. Ron enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation and is a Vietnam War veteran. In 1972 he became a Deputy Sheriff with the Kern County Sheriffs Department. In 1973, he married Dorothy Boulet and adopted her son as his own, Robert. Together they had a daughter Jennifer and resided in Rosedale. In 1990, Ron married Kathy and they resided in the Oleander neighborhood. Ron served as a Senior Deputy Sheriff to the Kern County community until his retirement in 2001. Ron moved to New Hampshire but quickly returned to Bakersfield after his granddaughter Breanne was born. Ron stayed in Bakersfield until 2014, then moved on a whim to Hayden Idaho. He loved God, golf, guns, America, life, traveling, and having fun! He was a jokester and a prankster. He loved to garden, cook, bake, clock making, and entering the chili competitions at The Elks Lodge, where he took First place! Ron knew no stranger and was always laughing and smiling. He was a double cancer survivor and a Godly man. In 2023 Ron was a part of the Honor Flight to Washington DC. He was part of the Elks Club of Coeur d'Alene, an intricate part of Lake City Church of Coeur d'Alene, loved his community, loved his friends, and loved his family. His best buddies were his daughter Jennifer and grandkids Breanne and Zachary.

With the very full life he lived, Ron passed away in Hayden Idaho, on March 4, 2024. Ron is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, father Archie Jr, and brother Geary. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter Jennifer Taylor-Rodriguez, his grand children Breanne and Zachary. Son Robert Taylor (Melissa); children Brendan, Kirsten, Tristan (Solveig), Madisen, and great grand daughter Freya. Step daughter Kathryn Thoman; children Torie, Jet, and Jameson. Ron's death was felt strongly throughout both the Bakersfield and Hayden communities. He leaves behind a tremendous amount of friends, numerous special cousins, a niece, endless Ron stories, and an amazing legacy.

Worked many a homicide investigations with Ron. As bad as it sounds, he made them very entertaining. He was a good dude with a big heart. I am thankful I knew him.

I knew Ron at East Bakersfield High School. Ron's brother Geary was in the same class as I was. I remember Ron being a fun guy...always laughing and having fun. I am also sorry for the passing of Geary so many years ago. I am sure they are now together. I am sorry for your loss.
