Pegalene R. Peters

Pegalene (Peggy) R. Hamilton Peters went home to be with her Lord in the early hours of February 13, 2023. She was 90 years old. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the Autumn Lake Healthcare Center at Calvert Manor. Peggy was born in 1932 in Betsy Layne, KY to Artha and Walter Rice.

Peggy leaves behind three children, Eddie (Maureen) Hamilton, Linda Yale, and Penny Hamilton. She had 7 grandchildren, Erin (Hani) Benbrika of Philadelphia, PA, Michael (Alicia) Madron of Zion, MD, Amy Hamilton, Perryville, MD, Jayce Yale of Abingdon, MD, Cameron (Michael) Maier, of Lincoln University, PA, Casey Bullock of Port Deposit, MD, and Lori Schmoker (Steve) deceased.

She had four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Cecil and Ed Rice of Betsy Layne, KY, three sisters, Emogene Whitt of Taylor, MI, Corinne DeRossett of Lima, OH, and Vada Marie Rice of Betsy Layne, KY. She married Mennis Hamilton in 1950 and moved to Rising Sun, MD where she lived and raised her family.

She was married to Robert Peters of Oxford, PA, from 1980 until the time of his passing in 2007. Peggy is remembered as a strong, loving Mom and Grandmom (Granny) who loved to cook for her family. She also loved to raise a garden and can the food that she grew. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at Rosebank Methodist Church on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 am with interment immediately following at New Bridge Baptist Cemetery in Colora, MD. To send an online condolence, please visit www.rtfoard.com
