Charles Skaggs Obituary

Charles Lee Skaggs, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Born on December 28, 1938, in Jerico Springs, Missouri, to Walter and Wanonia Skaggs, Charles lived a life marked by service, warmth, and genuine connection with others.

Charles graduated from Stockton High School and earned his degree from Drury College. He built a fulfilling 32-year career with Mobil Oil Corporation, where he held various positions that took him and his family across the country. The Skaggs family created cherished memories living in Kansas, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Connecticut, and Virginia. Charles took great pride in his work and the opportunities it provided.

In retirement, Charles returned his focus to Cedar County, serving on the boards of both the Stockton Nursing Home and Stockton Cemetery. His legacy of community service continues through the Skaggs Children's Literacy Fund, recently established at the Stockton Library to enhance the children's section for future generations.
Known for his cheerful disposition and welcoming spirit, Charles had a gift for making everyone he met feel valued. He never met a stranger and delighted in conversation with anyone who crossed his path. He found joy in golf, fishing, and serving his faith community at Jerico Springs Methodist Church.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Skaggs; his sister, Marylin Bacon; his children, Julie Skaggs and Gregory Skaggs; daughter-in-law, Nani Skaggs; and grandchildren, Ian and Emma Skaggs.
