Allen "Slim" Roberts

Allen "Slim" Roberts, 88, of San Antonio Texas, died December 8, 2016.
Slim was born in Richmond, Virginia, the son of the late Bernard Roberts and Beatrice Harlow Roberts McGehee. He moved to Louisa at age 12.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ola; second wife, Sherry; step-father, Leslie McGehee; and brother-in-law, Johnson Robertson.
His survivors include his sister, Margie Robertson of Louisa; his children, Debra Braun and her husband, Buddy, of San Antonio, Texas, Pamela Patton and her husband, Larry, of Chestnut Mound, Tennessee, Will Roberts and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Cookeville, Tennessee, Robin Rameriz and her husband, Andrew, of Dana Point, California; adopted children, Donnie, Carol, Donna and Terry Roberts; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces, Linda Stillwell of Louisa, Carolyn Dunn and Rita Hall of Richmond; nephews, John Robertson of Charlottesville and David Robertson of Louisa.
Slim was a well-known musician in Texas, playing fiddle throughout his life, as well as a great vocalist.
In his younger days, he toured with Tex Ritter, Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, Sonny James, Jimmy Day and The Skyline Boys. He performed shows with Ray Price, Sunshine Sue, Grandpa Jones and Ramona, Joe Maphis and Rosie Lee, Roy Acuff and Bill Monroe.
After a 12-year stint in the Air Force, he owned a pest control business. In later years, he was a member of a group called Texas Weather and performed on weekends.
A memorial service will be held in San Antonio, Texas, on March 26, 2017.
