Arthur Boyd Obituary
Born November 14, 1935 in Louisa, he was the son of the late Kenneth Barrett Boyd Sr. and Blanche Hughson Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Dooley Boyd; and his brother, Kenneth "B.B." Barrett Boyd Jr.
He was a lifetime member and deacon of Louisa Christian Church. A 1956 graduate of Louisa County High School, he went into the Army in 1958 and was stationed in Germany for 18 months. Doot retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years.
Survivors include his three children, Susan Colvin (Jeff) of Gordonsville, Wayne "Rooster" Boyd (Beth) of Louisa and Neil Boyd (Toni) of Richmond; his stepchildren, Ann Dooley Hicks, Bob Dooley and Steve Dooley; and his grandchildren, Leanne Colvin (Roger) of Louisa, Jeffrey Colvin (Jessica) of Gordonsville, and Ben Evans of Louisa.
Those who knew Doot, know that he loved golf, woodworking and shelling black walnuts to share with friends. He was also a wonderful cook, who loved to host family dinners.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Louisa Christian Church.
A celebration of Doot's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Louisa Christian Church with the Rev. Denny Burnette officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery in Mineral.
Memorial contributions may be made to Louisa Christian Church, P.O. Box 1344. Louisa, VA 23093.
Arrangements are being made by Preddy Funeral Home, Gordonsville.

"Doot" and I were in school together, and often sat next to each other. He was friendly, always happy, and a nice person to be around.
