Arthur Lassiter Obituary

Arthur "Jimmy" Roosevelt Lassiter, 82, of Bumpass, Virginia, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Ronald Lassiter; his daughter, Sandra Hicks (Bill); his grandchildren, Courtney Grace (Ian), Brandon Hicks, Ashley Hicks, Zachary Hicks, Victoria Lassiter; and his great-grandson, Tanner Grace. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Willis (Pret) of Montpelier, Virginia; and nieces, Clara Henshaw and Eunice Sharpe.
Jimmy was born in Louisa County, Virginia on July 17, 1933 to Florence Elizabeth Sharpe and Patrick Henry Lassiter. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy, Clarence, Henry; and his sisters, Edith, Edna and Muriel.
After graduating from Louisa County High School, Jimmy joined the army and was stationed in Germany as a medical technician. After his service to the country, Jimmy came back to Louisa, worked construction, married his high school sweetheart and started his family. Jimmy eventually started his own construction company, became a deacon in his church, taught Sunday school, and served as Jackson District supervisor.
Jimmy enjoyed life, filling his time with good friends and cultivating his vegetable gardens. Jimmy was especially known for his annual pig roasts, stews and hosting various "get togethers." Jimmy's kind, giving nature will be missed by his many friends and family.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. at Fork Baptist Church in Bumpass on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. A celebration of Jimmy's life followed in the fellowship hall of the church.

Daddy... I wish I could have one more day with you... one more hour... one more minute or just a second to hug you and tell you I love you...you are always in my heart...a father and daughter bond is forever... all my love....

Dad... I love you with all my heart... I miss you more than I can express in words...it helps to know that you no longer have to deal with dementia or any pain... Until we see each other again... I love you

Victoria, and Family--our condolences for the loss of your grandfather. Matt and I were your customers at PF Changs recently and enjoyed talking with you. We discovered we were both from Bumpass I notice that he was from Fork Church; my father, Leslie Newman, pastored there at one time. I probably know more of you family than I realize at the moment. It was very nice to meet you, glad I remembered your name, and we are sorry for your loss. Matt and Margaret Moriarty, 294 Lewis Hill Lane, Bumpass, VA
