John Wright Obituary

John Calvin Wright entered into eternal rest on October 4, 2017, at his home while in the care of his loved ones.
Calvin was born to the late John Henry and Edith Wright. He was also preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Brooklyn of Orange; sister, Frances of Alexandria; and his brother, Roy O'Dell of Gadsden, Alabama.
He was married to his loving wife, Mildred, for 63 years. God blessed their union with four children, Geraldine, Willie, John and Jerry.
Calvin loved the Lord and accepted Him as his personal savior. Prior to moving to Orange, he served as a deacon at Peach Grove Baptist Church in Louisa. As a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was a dedicated member of the men's chorus. Throughout the community, he was well-known and respected. He retired from Louisa County Public Schools as a maintenance technician and was a self-employed electrician and plumber.
He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Mildred; two daughters, Geraldine Ellis (Robert) of Gordonsville, Wilhilmenia Dickerson (Frank) of Gordonsville; two sons, John Calvin Jr. (Yinoris) of Williamsburg, and Jerry (Judith) of Orange; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Carolyn) of Charlottesville, and Henry (Mary) of Orange; one sister-in-law, Rachel of Gadsden, Alabama; two brothers-in-law, Robert Couram and William Ellis Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Orange, with a viewing starting at 11:30 a.m.
Arrangements are being made by D.D. Watson Mortician, Inc., Louisa.
