Linda Johnson

1925 - 2017

Linda Thomas Johnson was dispatched by the angels on the morning of Palm Sunday. The Lord granted her wings on Sunday, April 9, 2017, and she took flight.
Linda was born February 12, 1925, in Hanover, Virginia, to the late Cora Thaniel Thomas and Richard Lee Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Johnson; a son, Wayne Thomas Edward Johnson; and her siblings, William Thomas, Charles Thomas, Victoria Thomas and Gladys Horton.
Linda attended Powhatan Elementary for her early education and then completed her education in the New York City Public School system. She was baptized at First Union in Peconic of Long Island, New York. She then joined Union Baptist Church, Beaverdam, Virginia. Later in life, she joined St. Thomas Baptist Church by Christian experience and was a faithful and dedicated worker until her health failed. She was the Mother of the Church. Linda was employed at Louisa Manufacturing in Louisa, Virginia, until she retired. After retirement, she found joy as a caretaker for those in need.
Linda married Edward Johnson on September 17, 1959, and from that union they had three children. She leaves to cherish her memories, her five children, Cora Woodford (Robert), Robert Thomas, James Thomas (Thelma), Phyllis Johnson and Gwendolyn Johnson Smalls; one brother, Richard Henry Thomas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; six sisters-in law, Hilda Camp, EvaMae Johnson, Juanita Whiters, Alice Johnson, Lula Johnson and Barbara Johnson; a daughter-in-law, GaWanda Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and caregivers, Shalanda Washington, Rena Garland, Virginia Brown, Yvette Pruitt and Sherika Smalls.
