State College, Pennsylvania - Art was born and grew up in Conyngham, PA to Thelma Reiter Pentz and Arthur Lydick Pentz Sr. who predeceased him. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth P. Gatti of Conyngham, PA and a brother Roland Stewart Pentz of West Jordan, Utah. Also surviving are two nieces Stacia Pentz-Boren of Herriman Utah, Victoria Lewis of West Jordan Utah, and a nephew Andrew Patrick Pentz of Conyngham, PA.
Art graduated from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor's and master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. He then received his Ph.D in Special Education from Penn State University.
Art was an associate professor and the former department head in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Oklahoma State University where he taught and conducted research for 32 years. Art was a life member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Upon his retirement, in 2014, Art moved back to State College where he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was an active volunteer and photographer for the historic Boal Mansion. A tree in his honor will be planted on the Museum property in Boalsburg. Art was a member of the NRA and a member of the Conyngham United Methodist Church in Conyngham, PA. He was an accomplished photographer and woodworker, and loved to travel, particularly to the U.S. national parks, Western Canada and Alaska.
Donations in Art's memory may be made to the State College Meals on Wheels and the Boal Mansion. Burial will take place in the Mountainview Cemetery in West Hazelton, PA.
