Not sure what to say?

December 9, 2009

Lisa and Family,

I was sorry to hear of your husbands passing. I came across Carl's obituary by fluke. You do know me, but I am Tim K. Rockey, currently working in the Middle East. My father was Carlton George Rockey Jr. His father came from Ohio, so I believe we may be related. My brother Carl (3rd), lives in Marshall, Tx.

I'm sure your husband will be missed, and remembered by his many friends.

My condolences to all your family,
Tim Rockey

Lisa & family, Our sympathy and prayers are with you. I was blessed to get to know Carl during the "Renegade" years and found his positive, light-hearted nature to be contageous. He will always remain in our hearts.

To this day I can still hear his arrangement of a handful of Chuck Mangione classics that he fashioned into an award-winning percussion ensemble piece, and I count his instruction and leadership as a highlight of my high school days. I hope that part of his legacy offers some comfort.

Carl Rockey was one of the best drummers I ever had the pleasure of knowing - marching to the cadences that he helped put together was AWESOME! He will add to the great big band in the sky! Sending my deepest condolences -

May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always, and strength in the companionship of those who share your loss.... I have learned never to underestimate the healing power we all have. It is always there to be used for the highest good. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there's a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need, He'll stay close by your side. I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith.-2Timothy 4:7. As for me, I will lie down that I may sleep; I shall certainly awake, for Jehovah himself keeps supporting me. -Psalms 3:5

Lisa..

I'm so sorry at the loss of your brother.

"Rock" was a great guy, and the most talented musician I've ever known.

His abilities were the envy of most...myself included. What others had to work so hard at, was effortless for Carl.

I had always hoped he would have moved on to "bigger & better" things. He was more than capable of "hitting the big time", and I used to prod him to go to Nashville, and try.

Although I hadn't seen him in several years, I will always have the fond memories of him.

Please accept my condolences.
