Clarence, Pennsylvania - Donald J. Bucha, 73, of Clarence, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Centre Care in Bellefonte. Born on March 11, 1948, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Andrew C. and Katherine C. (Kolasa) Bucha.
Donald was a 1966 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. Donald enlisted in the US Army on January 10, 1968 and received his honorable discharge on January 2, 1974. He earned the rank of Sgt and received the National Defense Service Metal and the Sharpshooter Badge M-14 for his years of service. He worked for Eastern State Gas Line, retiring after 20 years of service.
Donald was a life member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very knowledgeable in computers and looked forward to all the new technology that was coming. Before working at Eastern State Gas Line, he was the past supervisor at the Mellon Bank in Harrisburg, working in the computer room. Don was a private person but did enjoy spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates.
Don is survived by two brothers: Andrew Bucha and his wife, Claudia, of Clarence and Frances Bucha and his wife, Doreen, of Snow Shoe; three sisters: Andrea Basalla of Bellefonte, Connie Surovec and her husband, Robert, of Clarence, and Sr. Francis Pio Bucha of Germantown, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother in-law, Joseph Basalla.
A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11am at the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence with Father Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
Donald was proud to be a veteran and felt all veterans should be honored for their service, so in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Honor Guard, C/O Clarence American Legon, PO Box 342, Clarence, PA 16874.
Donald's family would like to say THANK YOU to the doctor and the staff at Centre Care for their compassionate care they gave him over the past couple of years.
