Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Donald R. Moore, 88, of Bellefonte, died Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College PA. Donald was born on February 25, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Charles Franklin and Helen (Remer) Moore.
He married Margaret (Wolfe) Moore of Bellefonte on July 23, 1955. Margaret survives at home. Also surviving are their three sons, Donald of Bellefonte, Michael (Peggy) of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Charles (Carrie) of Ashburn, VA and one brother, Terry Moore of Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Rachel (Tim) Heaton of Mill Hall, Adam (Shea) Moore of Houtzdale, Rebecca Briesmoore of Rifle, Colorado, Fabian Briesmoore of San Antonio, Texas, and Colin and Caitlin Moore of Ashburn, VA and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Zimmerman of Mill Hall and Jordan Moore of Houtzdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Moore and Robert Moore.
Don was a graduate of South High School in Omaha and of Penn State University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his time in the service. He joined the Penn State Department of University Safety in 1970 and worked as Manager of Special Events and Manager of the Student Auxiliary until retiring in 1996. Many of the students who worked for him thought of him as their father away from home and kept in touch over the years.
Don was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, PA, where he was an usher for many years. He also enjoyed helping with football meals and other events at the church.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10-11 A.M., at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. The Memorial Service will begin at 11 A.M., at the church, with Pastor Terry Daugherty and Pastor David Carter officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
