Dora Elizabeth Ely

Dora Elizabeth (Spate) Ely September 14, 1918 -August 16, 2006 Dora Elizabeth Ely, 88, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away peacefully on Aug. 16, 2006, in Lake Jackson. Dora was born in Versailles, on Sept. 14, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Laura Spate. She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband of 55 years, William B. Ely; a sister; and two brothers. Dora and Bill were residents of Venice, Fla., following careers with Penn State University. She is survived by a daughter, Eileen Aldous, of Lake Jackson; a son, Richard Ely, of Albany, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Melinda Osborn; and two great-grandchildren, Elissa and Timothy Osborn, all of Lakeway, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Agnes Cropp, of Ukiah, Calif. Dora was a gentle, caring and giving person, and will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. Services will be in Venice, Fla., at the convenience of the family.
