Doyle Klinger Obituary
February 15, 1948 - July 11, 2025
Clermont, Florida - The Reverend Doyle H Klinger, Jr, has passed away July 11, 2025 at his home in Clermont, Florida.
Born on February 15, 1948 at Bloomsburg to the late Doyle Hetler Klinger, Sr and Jean Evelyn Robbins Klinger; in addition to his late parents, he was proceeded in death by his two brothers, Larry D. and Dennis A. Klinger.
On May 20, 1972, Doyle married Lucy Jean Hagenbuch Klinger. They just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by his daughters, Tamara D. Klinger, Massachusetts; and Kara L. Echavarria and her husband, Miguel, Arizona; and, one son, Doyle H. Klinger, III, Florida. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brinna Graham and her husband, Jonathan, Massachusetts, as well as, Eva, Ella and Ezekiel Echavarria, Arizona.
Doyle graduated from Bloomsburg Sr High School in 1966; Bloomsburg State College in 1970; Wesley Theological Seminary in 1973; and, post graduate work at Boston University School of Theology in Boston. He was ordained an Elder in the Central PA Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1974. He served the Espy-Hetlerville-Lime Ridge Charge, the Enders-Powell's Valley Charge, Grace UMC in Centre Hall, Trinity Church in Jersey Shore, PA, First Church Huntingdon, and Faith Church in Bellefonte.
During his career, he served on the Board of Church and Society; co-leader of the United Nations Seminar; served on the Board of Ordained Ministry; helped create Leadership University, a School for Making Disciples, and served as its first Dean; served on various Peace with Justice groups; and, lead Leadership Training Seminars for laity. While serving Faith Bellefonte, he helped create FaithCentre, a community ministry to work with at-risk people.
In addition to his professional endeavors, he was an avid tennis player for 45 years, an amateur genealogist for fifty years, a member of the Columbia County PA Historical & Genealogical Society, the New England Historic Genealogical Society, and of the Mayflower Society.
A service will be held at the convenience of the family.
