Gary Davy Obituary

Gary L. 'Ben' Davy July 28, 1946 - July 7, 2012 Gary L. "Ben" Davy, 65, of Selinsgrove, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Sara (Strauser) Davy, to whom he was married for 10 years. Gary was born on July 28, 1946, in Lock Haven, Clinton County, a son of Robert "Pat" Davy, of Blanchard and the late Ruth L. (Roe) Davy. He was a 1964 graduate of Lock Haven High School, and Mansfield University with a bachelor of science degree in education. He later received his masters degree in education from Elmira College. He retired after 35 years from the Selinsgrove Center, and was previously employed with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. He was also a teacher and assistant wrestling coach for the Bald Eagle Area High School in Wingate. "Ben" was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Selinsgrove. "Ben" enjoyed baseball, golf, fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his dog Riffer. In addition to his loving wife and father, he is survived by his two sons, Ben Patrick Davy, of Harrisburg, and Reed E. Davy, of Camp Hill; a stepdaughter; Betty Dawe and her husband Kenneth, of Canada; five grandchildren; Hunter and Garrett Davy, Austin, Colton, and Blake Davy; a stepdaughter; Kristen Knouse; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Ronald E. and Sharon Davy, of Blanchard and James "Tom" and Brenda Davy, of Palmyra; a sister, Bonnie Ann McCloskey, of Clermont, Fla.: and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James H. McCloskey. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of "Ben" to the American Cancer Society, Central Susquehanna Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701. The George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mt. Pleasant Mills is assisting the family with the arrangements.
