Naples, Florida - Gregory J. "Greg" Myford, age 58, of Naples, FL, formerly of Grove City, PA, beloved father, son, brother, soulmate, uncle and friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Greg was born in Grove City, PA on October 26, 1963, to James C. (deceased) and Betty Myford. He graduated from Grove City High School in 1982 and continued his education at the Pennsylvania State University, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Journalism in 1986. He went on to forge a successful career in collegiate and professional athletics, working for organizations including: Home Team Sports, The Detroit Pistons, Tampa Bay Lightning, Penn State University, IMG College, Florida State University and most recently, the University of Alaska Anchorage where he served as Director of Athletics.
He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, persistent optimism and witty sense of humor. Greg was a self-professed lifelong learner with a commitment to leave a lasting impact on each individual he encountered.
Greg is survived by his love, Laura Thomason; daughter Madeline (25) and son-in-law Jason Frandi; daughter Miranda (23); mother, Betty; sister Donna Glenn; future brother-in-law George Pokrant; and nephews Tanner and Hayden Glenn. He is also survived by many extended family members.
Greg is now reunited with his father, Jim.
He always looked forward to his family's annual trip to Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Greg's family meant everything to him, but he first and foremost loved The Lord.
A special thank you to his healthcare professionals for their knowledge and guidance throughout his journey with cancer.
Greg's life will be celebrated in Grove City, PA on December 18, 2021. A service will be held at the Grove City YMCA (543 E Main Street ext., Grove City, PA 16127). The family will receive visitors from 1-3:00 PM with memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request you consider making a donation in Greg's honor to one of the following organizations: University of Alaska Anchorage General Athletic Fund, Four Diamonds (Conquering Childhood Cancer) or the Grove City YMCA.
