Harriet V. "Ginny" Davis

McAlevy's Fort, Pennsylvania - Harriet V. 'Ginny' Davis, 79, of Daland Acres in McAlevy's Fort, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at her home.
Born December 25, 1941 in New Castle, PA, she was a daughter of the late F. Kenneth and Jean M. (Tindal) Filban. On November 21, 1993, she married Harold J. Davis, he survives at their home.
Also surviving are: her children, Craig H. Davis & wife Victoria of Pipersville, PA; Kenneth J. Davis & wife Krista of State College, PA; Jennifer Nicholson & husband Eric of State College, PA; and Jean Ann (Lukas) Durchuck & husband Paul of McAlevy'sFort; 10 grandchildren, Thomas & Lillian, Chase & Hunter, Carley, Garrett, Nicolas, & Rachel; and Lukas & Anna, as well as a sister, Nancy McCrumb & husband David of Valley View Home, Lancaster, PA; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Groninger of Carlisle; Doris Zucca & husband Louis of Vineland, NJ; Marlene Sampsel & husband Michael of Milton, PA; and Jean Davis of McAlevy's Fort.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Norman Davis and William Groninger.
Ginny was a graduate of New Castle High School class of 1959. She received her associate degree from Youngstown State University and a bachelor of science degree from St. Francis University. Ginny was a Certified Public Accountant and her places of employment included: Penn Power, Ted Simpson, Barley Hearn and Company, Huntingdon Area School District where she served as their Business Manager, and she retired from CPA Associates at the age of 75.
She served as a Girl Scout, a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, AAUW, Huntingdon Area School Board, Huntingdon House Board of Directors, Huntingdon and Mifflin County Historical Societies, and the Alpha Tau Gamma Honorary Accounting Fraternity at Youngstown State University. She was a member of State College Presbyterian Church.
Ginny was an avid reader, she enjoyed gardening, which was inspired by her father, enjoyed doing embroidery & genealogy. She traced her family tree back over 1000 years and traced her husband's family tree back for several centuries. She also loved helping her grandchildren with their Flat Stanley projects by creating elaborate stories to describe his visit to her home. In June of 2018 she fulfilled a life-long dream of visiting Ireland with her sister. They participated in a tour with a group from the Willow Valley Senior Living Community
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Belleville with Pastor Dean Lindsey officiating. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the church social hall. Burial will take place at Burket Cemetery in Warriors Mark, PA. Masking is optional.
