State College, Pennsylvania - Harvey Otto Haack, 86, passed away peacefully December 31st at Foxdale Village in State College. Harvey was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 5,1936, to Herbert Haack and Helen Bousquet. Harvey's life was one directed by love for his family and faith in God.
Harvey is survived by his wife Marsha Haack; his three children, Gregg, Tracy, & Sandra, from his first wife Marge Fredrickson; grandchildren & great-grandchildren; and niece, Kat. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Chuck.
Harvey spent his early years in Richmond, VA before moving to Orlando, FL with his family in 1948.
Harvey graduated Edgewater High School in Orlando; graduated Georgia Tech as a civil engineer; and continued with post-graduate studies earning his MBA at UCLA and ABD at Northwestern in Transportation.
After three decades working with state Departments of Transportation in California, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, Harvey was inspired by his faith to help others. After earning a Master's in Psychology from Geneva College and a diploma from Trinity School for Ministry in Christian Studies, he became a family therapist and substance abuse counselor helping others find sobriety and faith. His faith also led him to his wife of 31 years, Marsha McLane.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Foxdale Village for their loving care. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foxdale Village Community Fund or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring when the family will gather.
