Nancy Prough Obituary

Nancy L. Prough September 15, 1946 October 26, 2017 Nancy L. Prough, 71, of Centre Hall, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at home. Born September 15, 1946, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Mabel A. Kelly Witherite. On July 31, 1977, in Centre Hall, she married Robert E. Prough, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 14, 2015. Nancy is survived by seven children, Deborah L. Weaver of Centre Hall, Karen K. French, and husband, Lewis, of Centre Hall, Jennifer S. Stover and her husband, Roger, with whom Nancy resided with in Centre Hall, Robert E. Prough Jr. of Boalsburg, Diana "Sissy" Prough of Clarksville, TN, Shirley Prough Camerlengo of Clarksville, TN, and Julia K. Long and husband, Randy, of Spring Mills; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters; six brothers, and her canine companion, Nikki. Nancy attended State College Area School District. At the age of seven, she began delivering newspapers in Pine Grove Mills. She cleaned houses and babysat from the age of 12 until 14 when she started working for Erie Tech, Weis Markets and waitressed. She was a member of the Colyer Community Church. Nancy was a devoted wife. She loved Florida and enjoyed spending her winters there with her husband and friends. Some of her favorite things include the ocean, flowers, gardening, music, and dancing. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Nancy was talented at knitting and crocheting, often making hats for her family members to wear. She was very social, meeting and befriending new people wherever she went. Nancy also enjoyed vacationing with her dear friends and family. A visitation will be held from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with Pastor Darryl Smucker officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Colyer Community Church, 105 Colyer Rd., Centre Hall, PA 16828, The Donald P. Vrabec House of Care, 100 North Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822, or to Centre Homecare Hospice, 2437 Commercial Blvd., Ste. 6, State College, PA 16801, in memory of Nancy L. Prough.
