Patricia Bachman Obituary

Patricia (Fredenhagen) Bachman

February 12, 1931 - November 30, 2025

Huntingdon, Pennsylvania - Patricia (Fredenhagen) Bachman, 94, a resident of the Westminster Woods community in Huntingdon, PA, since 2013, and formerly of State College, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods. Born February 12, 1931, in Princeton, IL, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lorella Delight (Cushing) Fredenhagen. On July 21, 1951, she married Donald A. "Don" Bachman in Princeton, IL. Her husband of 74 years survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Randall "Randy" Bachman and his significant other, Debbie Schultz, of Spring Island, SC, Kenneth "Ken" Bachman and his wife, Wendy, of Star, ID, and Timothy "Tim" Bachman and his wife, Phoebe, of Agoura Hills, CA. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Patricia was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, David and B.J. Fredenhagen, and by her daughter-in-law, Lynor Bachman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A woman of deep Presbyterian faith, Patricia was an ordained elder and a commissioned Stephen Minister. Throughout her life she shared her musical gifts as a church organist and choir member in the many Presbyterian congregations she loved and served. She and her husband cherished their missionary work, especially their two-year mission trip to Alaska and Utah. She was most recently a member of Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. She held membership in P.E.O., Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, and Phi Mu Sorority. Patricia graduated from Tiskilwa High School (IL) in 1948 and earned her bachelor's degree in Music Education from Knox College in 1952. She later received her master's degree in Counselor Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Over the course of her career, she worked as a teacher, real estate agent, and elementary school counselor. Her love of music was lifelong, and she especially cherished the sacred music of Advent and the Christmas season. While living in Utah, she performed with the Southwest Symphony in St. George. Patricia also loved traveling with her husband-particularly to Europe and China-with Switzerland holding a special place in their hearts. She delighted in baking pies, entertaining, and creating warm, welcoming holiday celebrations. A celebration of life service at Westminster Woods is being planned and will be announced in a future edition of The Daily News. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions in Patricia's honor may be made to Westminster Woods at Huntingdon, 360 Westminster Dr., Huntingdon, PA 16652, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
