State College, Pennsylvania - Phyllis Lorraine Hertzog, 92, of State College, died Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley.
Born February 16, 1933, in Tusseyville, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Nellie Meyer Ripka. On April 27, 1958 she married Kenneth C. Hertzog, who died.
She is survived by a son, Ronald W. Hertzog and his wife Patty; three grandchildren, Trisha Klingler and her husband Matthew of Bellefonte, Dan Despot and his wife Cassie, and Susan Despot Thorwarth; three great-grandchildren, Anna Klingler, Jackson Despot and Amelia Despot, and a sister, Darlene Mary Ripka of State College. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Dreese, and two brothers, John "Jack" Ripka and Robert W. Ripka.
Phyllis graduated from State College High School in 1951. She worked as a lunch aide for the State College Area School District, among other businesses, including Danks, Heirs Unlimited, UBC, and the Redifer Dining Hall at Penn State.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 11 am-12 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, with a funeral service following at 12 pm. Celebrant Jackie Hook will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
