November 13, 1940 - August 5, 2023
Arlington, Virginia - Susan Eberly Nelson grew up in State College along with her brother Joe Eberly and sister Mary Evans. Her parents were Mary Keeny Eberly and Norman McKinley Eberly. Susan graduated from State College High School in 1958 and from Penn State in 1962 with a degree in the liberal arts. She was on the staff of the Penn State Daily Collegian. She moved to Washington D.C. where her career involved working for the U.S. Census Bureau , Doubleday Publishing Company, the American Friends Services Committee, and as a newspaper journalist involved with the U.S. energy industry. Susan was active as a volunteer with the National Building Museum, the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, and the Washington Friends Meeting. She was married for 51 years to Warren Louis Nelson. Susan was a devoted gardener, and in lieu of flowers, please plant some brown-eyed Susans in her memory.
A service for Susan Nelson is planned for Saturday, September 30, from 2:00 to 5:0 0pm. at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington Virginia.

Susan and I were neighbors for almost 50 years. She was a warm and wonderful person who especially enjoyed our many Fillmore street gatherings. May she rest in God´s love and peace. George Ruppert
