Spring Mills, Pennsylvania - Travis F. J. Hammer, 52, of Spring Mills, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on March 7, 1969, he was the son of Richard Jeppesen and Marcia K. (Finn) Hammer. On August 20, 1993, in Atlanta, GA, he married Dana L. Soller, who survives at home.
Travis graduated from Moreno Valley High School, California, in 1987. He served a two-year mission for his church in the Chicago Illinois Mission. He then earned his bachelor's degree in dairy science from the University of Georgia and later earned a geospatial certificate from Penn State University. He worked for Bushel, out of North Dakota, in various facets.
Travis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in State College. His faith was important to him, and it showed in his love for serving others. He was very proud to serve as a prison liaison, through his church, and loved helping inmates in any way he could. He was an outgoing man that easily became your best friend after knowing him a short time. He enjoyed time outdoors, his horses, and cherished his family. He could spend hours with his children, watching them in sports or playing around the yard. He was sports fan and loved his football, especially when it came to watching University of Georgia play. GO DAWGS!! P.S. Don't forget the Pepsi and popcorn for such events. He was a handyman that enjoyed renovations, fixing things, and was skilled at woodworking. When something needed done, Travis was on it and taking care of it. If there was a problem to be solved, he would figure out the solution. He always saw the good in people. He had a larger-than-life personality. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Along with his wife, Dana, Travis is survived by his parents, Craig and Marcia Hammer of Bella Vista, AK; his father, Richard Jeppesen and his wife, Sharon, of Provo, UT; six children, Bracken Bateman and his wife, Andrea, of Idaho Falls, ID, Brett Hammer of Provo, UT, Alex Hammer of Spring Mills, Chad Hammer, Emma Kate Hammer, and Livvy Hammer; three grandchildren, Ero, Roma, and Elowen; two brothers, Seth Jeppesen of Beaverton, OR and David Jeppesen and his wife, Mindy, of Provo, Ut; three sisters, Heather Griesemer and her husband, Mark, of Highland, UT, Ashley Harrington and her husband, Taylor, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Britney Grover and her husband, Andy, of Bella Vista, AK; his father and mother in-law, Ray and Paula Soller of Peachtree Corners, GA; two brother in-laws, Evan Soller of McKinney, TX and Lane Soller of Cumming, GA; his sister in-law, Raenell Soller of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 6pm-8pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall and on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 10am-11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on W. Whitehall Rd, State College. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11am at the church with Bishop Ben Burgess officiating.
Travis's family has created a donation page to honor Travis and his passion for the work he did as a prison liaison. A friendship was developed over the years, and they would like to provide support for Jimmy when he transitions back into life.
