DOC was/is the man!!!!! Words can't begin to express all the support he provided me during my stay in State College. He was my "GO TO" person and he never failed to give me sound, well thought out and relevant advice.

To the Henson Family,
Dr. Henson was a great inspiration to both of us. He made such a big contribution to the advancement of minority students, faculty, staff as well as govt. employees and officials and business executives in the field of Agriculture and Natural Resources. For that we are so proud to have worked with him as well as to have been touched by him. Dr. Henson recruited Dave as a sophomore in college to graduate school which changed his opportunity set and life as he did for so many others. He later, independently, assisted Lorraine as an international student on campus. Later, as a couple and new professionals, Dr. Henson selflessly shared his wisdom with us. Dr. Henson exemplified love for family, blood and extended family. We are forever indebted to him and we appreciate the family’s willingness to share him with the rest of us for all of those years. We will truly miss your big booming laugh. May God bless this family and the MANRRS family who lost a real rock.

To the Henson Family,
Dr. Henson was my sanity in what during my period of time at Penn State was insane. He guided me through graduate life and I am forever grateful for knowing him and being his fraternity brother. I do what I do today because of him. May God bless each and every one of you. Thank you for sharing him with me.

To the Henson family, Bill was a dear friend, colleague and mentor to me during my arrival at Penn State University which began in 1994. I will truly miss my colleague and friend. His passing comes a few days after my father's, so I wish to extend my sincere sympathy to all the family members. I am reminded of a famous statement that is often referred to," God may not be there when you want him to but he'll always be on time." May God Bless you and comfort you during this difficult time. Amen.

My sincere and deep sympathy to the Henson Family on the passing of our colleague and friend, Bill Henson. One of the first people to greet me when I came to work at Penn State was Bill and over the years his friendship and guidance sustained me. He was a pillar and a treasure.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies for the loss of a truly wonderful man. "Doc" Henson was an amazing mentor during my time at PSU. His straightforward advice, his warm conversations, and his high expectations of what myself and others could achieve were invaluable during that time. I will never forget the very important role he has played in my life, and will miss him dearly.

Mrs. Henson, Cheryl, Liz and Kathy;
Time has a way of getting away from us, and though we may not have kept in touch in recent years, your family has, and will always be in my thoughts. In life, we are fortunate to know a few good and true friends. Liz, you were always a friend to me and I cherish the memories we share, going all the way back to those Kindergarten days at Lemont Elementary. Growing up, I felt every bit as comfortable in your home as I did my own. Your parents were both wonderful, welcoming people and I remember them both fondly. Reading about all of your father's accomplishments today introduced me to another side of a man who had always been simply, "Mr. Henson," the father of dear friends who's laugh will be forever etched in my mind as a part of some of my most cherished childhood memories.
Words can not adequately express my sympathy for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, particularly at this difficult time and I hope you are able to take some comfort from one another as you share your memories of a very special man.
With deepest sympathy,
Teri

To the Henson Family:
I would like to send my deepest regrets to your family during this time of sorrow.
I met Dr. Henson long ago when he visited NCA&TSU recruiting students for the graduate programs at Penn State. As a result (many years afterward), I decided to return to school to complete my PhD there. Now, I am a professor!
I am truly grateful that I met Dr. Henson that one time in NC, especially since I not fortunate to meet him while a student in State College.
God Bless

To Dr. Henson's family, you have my most sincere and deepest condolences in the passing of a husband and father. I've known Bill since coming to PSU in '72, and we worked together in the College of Agricultural Sciences from '82 until his retirement. Bill was my mentor, colleague; and most of all, a trusted friend. I will miss receiving his Christmas cards. Bill's legacy will never be lost because of his contributions to MANRA/MANRRS, minority students, staff, and alumni; and, the Penn State community in general. Two examples, among many, of Bill's contributions to the university are noted when he received the James Robinson Equal Opportunity Award for promoting "equal opportunity through affirmative action and/or contributing to enhancing the educational environment of the university by improving cross-cultural understanding" in 1989, and receiving the Multicultural Resource Center MRC Diversity Recognition Award for Faculty/Staff in 1997/1998.
Thanks Bill for having such a remarkable impact on so many lives during your visit on mother earth--we'll miss you.

Bill Henson was an inspiration to so many and he will be truly missed. Bill had that rare combination of great intellect, wit, honesty, and humility. Bill told you how it was, usually with a little joke or wry smile thrown in on the side, and he was always spot on! He worked tirelessly for the students he served in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and he is one of those who can never truly be replaced. His memory always brings a smile.
