Thomas Ray Lovelace Jr.

Thomas Ray Lovelace Jr., a gentle soul and beloved husband and father, passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 68 in Urbana, IL, at the Carle Foundation Hospital. Born on April 19, 1956, in Waukegan, IL, he was the cherished son of Thomas Ray Lovelace Sr. and Beatrice Taylor. Thomas dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country as a proud veteran. Throughout his military career, he was recognized for his skills and commitment, receiving accolades such as the Marksman M-15 Rifle award and the Good Conduct Medal. In his younger years, Thomas had a passion for basketball, which he enjoyed both playing and watching. He had an impressive collection of records and CDs, with a particular fondness for jazz music. His love for sports extended beyond basketball, as he was an avid sports fan who relished cheering for his favorite teams. Thomas was a devoted husband to his surviving spouse, Carol Lovelace, and a treasured father to his children: Kayla Lovelace, Patrice Lovelace, Latoya Morris, and Candace Akintola. He took immense pride in his family and was a source of love and support for them. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Rosalind Stackhouse, Valda (Steve) Gipson, and Cynthia Milot, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Jasmine and Daniel, who brought him great joy. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Lovelace Hillery, his father, Thomas Ray Lovelace Sr., and step father, Robert Hillery. His spirit and kindness touched the hearts of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
