Matthew Ralston Obituary

Matthew Ralston GREENSBURG, PA - Matthew Garrett Ralston, 42, died at his home in Greensburg, PA on March 24, 2013. Matthew is survived by his parents, Michael and Libby Ralston of Sullivans Island; his brother Garth Ralston of London, England; his son Garrett Ralston and his mother Laura Ralston of Mt. Pleasant; his wife Ashley Hoffman Ralston and his two daughters, Belle Elizabeth and Emma Riley Ralston of Greensburg, PA. Matthew was born on March 13, 1971 in Groton, Connecticut, and moved to Sullivans Island with his family when he was eight years old. Matthew spent much of his youth surfing on the island with his many friends. He attended Sullivans Island Elementary, East Cooper School, Wando High School and Winthrop University. Matthew was a true entrepreneur and ran several successful businesses both in Charleston and in Greensburg during his life. His entrepreneurial spirit was enhanced by an incredible ability to really connect with people. And this connection left Matthew with many friends and colleagues who will all miss him dearly. The family invites those friends of Matthew, as well as friends of Mike and Libby, Garth, Garrett, Laura and Ashley to join them at the family home on Sullivans Island on April 27, 2013 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, to celebrate Matthew's life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorials in Matthew's name to be made to The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center in Charleston SC. (www.dnlcc.org). Matthew ~ I will remember always that infectious smile and laughter. You and Garth hold a very big space of my heart. So many of the DNLCC Staff spouses and children always knew I would never stop until I found their spouses or Mom's or Dad's. I enjoyed those 12 years of being held by that honor to you and the others. I have really had the blessing for so many years watching you grow into the man I will hold in memories of. I will stay connected to your memory by checking in on your Mom and Dad (whom I Love), to Garrett, Ashley and your beautiful girls, to Garth and Laura. I Love You and am a better person for being Loved by You!! Cathie Thorpe <3
