Nancy Calnon Obituary

Nancy Calnon Greenville, SC - Nancy Alwayne Williams Calnon (Nancie), wife of Timothy David Calnon, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Roper Hospice Cottage in Mount Pleasant, SC. She bravely fought bone marrow cancer (myelofibrosis) for five years, as well as acute myeloid leukemia. She had a stem cell transplant in 2020 in order to enjoy another year of life with her family. Nancie was daughter of the late Alwayne DeLozier and Kenneth Merald Williams. Surviving are her two children, Meg Calnon Peavey (Jonathan BH) of Mt. Pleasant and Timothy "Tee" David Calnon, Jr. (Abigail) also of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was loving grandmother of Caleb Peavey of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Nancie is survived by her sister, Susan W. Gray (Asa) of Greenville, SC, and her brother, Kenneth M. Williams, Jr. (Stefanie) of Myrtle Beach, SC. She also had 18 nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Nancie was born December 17, 1947, in Asheville, NC, and grew up in Greenville, SC. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School where she was class president or a student body officer each year. She earned her B.A. Degree in Spanish from Queens College. After graduation, she moved to Wilmington, Delaware, where she worked for a world renowned neurosurgeon. While living in Wilmington, she met and married Timothy. They were married at First Baptist Church of Greenville in 1972. They later lived in Charlotte, NC, before moving to Greenville, SC, where they raised their family. Nancie was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Greenville, later moving over to Ebenezer United Methodist in Greer, SC. She was a member of the Nathanael Greene Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancie worked for a time at the family business, NTM Incorporated, though most of her years were spent as a homemaker. Never was the family without a home cooked meal on the dinner table, a homemade snack after school or a ham biscuit for breakfast. Nancie fiercely loved her children, always volunteering at their schools as a classroom mom, PTA President or as school fundraising chair. She could be found tutoring at their schools or chaperoning class field trips. Making her kid's hopes and dreams a reality was always her main priority. She never missed her daughter's tennis matches or her son's baseball games. She was a die-hard fan of her son's Clemson Tigers. Nancie was known to make friends everywhere she went, including in the grocery store line, and was known for her quick wit and her smiling eyes. Her love for others and her love of God were unwavering throughout her life. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:15 a.m. prior to the service. A private burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. I so admired Nancy's spirit that shined through no matter what was happening in her life. She always had a smile on her face, and was a joy to be around. She will be missed by me and others of her Ebenezer church family that she loved so much.
