Dr. Thomas Riley

Dr. Thomas Riley Summerville - Dr. Thomas Wayne Riley, 73, of Summerville, husband of Patricia Patterson Riley, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, at MUSC after a short battle with leukemia. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 3 30 p.m. in Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Churchyard. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Parks Funeral Home. Dr. Riley was born April 30, 1943, in Summerville, SC, a son of the late John Wilbur Riley, Jr. and the late Sarah Ganelle Smith Riley Orvin. He was a graduate of Summerville High School, Wofford College, and Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Riley practiced dentistry in Summerville until 1985, when he retired to farm full time. He also served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife Patricia Patterson Riley, of Summerville; son, Thomas Patrick "Smith" Riley (Natalie); daughters, Catherine Paige Riley (Randy Buck), Mary Elizabeth Riley Lloyd (Scott), and Sarah Rebecca Riley Griggs (David); brother, John Wilbur Riley, Jr. (Cynthia); step-brothers, Baxter Orvin (Betty) and Clair Orvin (Cindy); grandchildren, Olivia Buck Kent (Will), Mitchell Buck (Peyton), Veronica Buck, Eve Buck, Roxanne Buck, Harper Riley, Samuel Riley, Madeline Ruth Lloyd, Jillian Lloyd, and Thomas Patterson Lloyd; great- grandchild, Sebastian Kent; and a number of nieces and nephews. Dr. Riley is predeceased by his parents; stepfather, St. Clair Orvin; and stepsister, Jenifer Gregg.
