Ada Jones

Ada Pitts Jones CHARLOTTE - Ada Jones, 89, passed away on January 15, 2016, at her home. She was born on January 5, 1927, in Glen Alpine, NC, a daughter of the late Garfield and Mabel Boyd Pitts; and beloved wife of her late husband, Clyde W. Jones. She was also preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: William Pitts, Robert Pitts, Ida Pitts, Maude Franklin, Mary Stamey, Lucille McGimpsey, Sarah Pitts, and Sue Isaacs. Ada is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was Executive Secretary for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Hospital Authority for 44 years, having retired in 1989. Ada was a long time member of Dilworth United Methodist Church and served for 15 years as a volunteer for the Red Cross. She loved working in her yard and she was especially fond of caring for the birds that would come there. Ada also had the opportunity to have several birds that became her pets and companions. The family deeply appreciates the lifelong friendship of love, care and attention given by Tom and Mary Lee Watkins. A service by the graveside will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte with Reverend Karen Easter Bayne, Senior Minister of Dilworth United Methodist Church officiating.
