Dear Family,
I was so saddened to hear of the passing of your Dad. I wanted to tell you all how much I loved him. I do not know if you ever heard this story or not. When I lived in Charlotte I was on the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Society of Communicating Artists. I was chairing an event for the organization. A halloween party, and we needed a coffin. I told them I knew who to call, your Dad. We brought a truck to Cheraw and he gave us one for our party. Can you believe that one! He was so funny. We laughed and laughed riding down the highway back to Charlotte with that coffin in the back of the truck. People just stared at us as we passed them on the highway. I know some folks will think this is an inappropriate story to tell now but I know you guys well enough to know you will laugh about it as I still do. Your father was a precious man! He was always smiling!
He also gave me cuttings from his confederate rose bush. I have grown 3 in my yard and given several rootings away to friends. Just think! Your Dad's rose bush is in lots of yards all over the place. Everytime I look out my window and see that bush, especially when it blooms, I think about your Daddy!
Big Hugs and kisses to you all!

Dear Stubbs Family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We so enjoyed Mr. Bernard's writings in the local newspaper and enjoyed every chat we had with him when meeting up with him in the grocery store and other places. I'm sure you will treasure all the wonderful memories you have of Mr. Stubbs.
In Christ,
