Barbara Ann Collins (Stassens)

March 21, 1938- August 24, 2018

Barbara Ann Collins passed away peacefully with her family by her side at St. Vincent Hospital at the age of 80. Barbara was born March 21, 1938 in Portland, Oregon to Jukes Stassens and Theresa Whiteside. She graduated from Immaculate Academy in 1956. She married Ronald W. Collins, her partner for 61 years, in January 1957.

Barbara worked her way through high school, working at the 30th Avenue Theater, eventually becoming a manager. She left the theater to work for Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon where she stayed until marrying Ron. They began their lives and family together in Portland, Oregon. In 1970 they moved to Cedar Mill, Oregon, where she raised her four boys and remained.

In their retirement years, they spent winters in Suprize, Arizona, where she enjoyed her association with many friends and family members. She enjoyed playing shuffle board.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Ronald W. Collins; children Ronald W. (Julie), Robert E. (Lisa), William P. (Georgette), Edward J. (Shawna); brother Thomas (Carol) Stassens; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to St. Vincent for their compassion and care in keeping Barbara comfortable during her final days.
