Betty Edens Obituary
Mrs. Edens, of 5423 Wintercrest Lane in Charlotte died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital after a prolonged illness. Betty was a long time Charlotte community member, having been raised in Fort Myers, Florida. Betty was an important contributor to the community growth of the Park Dale and Barclay Downs neighborhoods in Charlotte and worked with the fashion industry at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. In more recent years, Betty had been active in the Library and Prayer Groups of the Myers Park Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1951.
Betty is survived by her son, Steve Edens and his wife, Myra, and their three children, Brandon, Jeremy, and Carrie.
A memorial service will be held at the Myers Park Baptist Church on Friday, January 16th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Myers Park Baptist Church Library in memory of Betty Jane Edens, 1900 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.

Betty was one of the dearest people to me every time we would meet at MPBC, and she was so kind to my daughter Sarah, especially on library visits. I always will feel her presence when I enter the library! And I hope this time is filled with grace for all her family and friends.

We were saddened to hear of Aunt Betty's passing. I have wonderful memories of Aunt Betty and all the other aunts, cousins and uncles while growing up in Fort Lauderdale. Aunt Betty was one of the pillars of the community in Charlotte and I am sure she will be missed by many. Our condolences go out to her son and his family.

I remember Aunt Betty with fondest memories of her caring ways, articulate expressions and love of beauty in all things. I shall miss our visits on the phone.
