Betty Nash Obituary

WINSTON-SALEM -- Mrs. Betty Jo W. Nash, age 72, of 207 Lansowne Place (the Wallburg Community), went to be with her Lord Saturday, December 14, 2002 at her son's residence, 301 Creekside Drive.
Mrs. Nash was born February 8, 1930 in Union County, a daughter of Robert Lee and Altha Mae Griffen Whitmore. She was a graduate of Wingate High School. She was a resident of High Point for many years; however, she had lived in the Wallburg Community for the past 24 years and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. She was owner and operator of Betty's Whitehouse Restaurant, on South Main Street in High Point until her retirement in 1989. On September 1st 1951 she was married to Harold Elmer Nash, Sr. who died August 13th 1994. Four brothers, Clyde, Bruce, Charles L. and Ben H. Whitmore and two sisters, Gwen W. Miles and Willie Mae W. Gathins also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Harold E. Nash Jr. and his wife Debra and one daughter, Donna Nash Dwyer all of the Wallburg Community; one sister, Virginia W. Rainwater of Kannapolis; two brothers, Johnny C. Whitmore of Monroe and Jack Whitmore of Matthews; three grandchildren, Jessie E. Dwyer, Casey L. Nash and Michelle A. Nash.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Shady Grove United Methodist Church by Rev. Michael Goode. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Avenue, High Point until placed in the church at 1:30. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of her son, 301 Creekside Drive, in the Wallburg Community.
Memorials may be directed to the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, Route #6. Hwy 109, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
