Billy Conner, 79, of Matthews, NC passed away on October 28, 2006 at his home. He was born on June 22, 1927 in Lincolnton to Nathan and Allen Broome Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Conner Fore.
Mr. Conner possessed a silent strength, having never once complained during his 16 year illness. He was a member of the Atlas Pythagoras Lodge #10 in Westfield, NJ, and Myers Park Country Club. He loved golf and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Betty Yarborough Conner, of the home; children, Janice Conner Thompson and her daughter Emily Jane, of the home, and John Michael Conner of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Betty Conner Zoret and husband George, and Tommie Sims Pfeifer, all of Charlotte; and 6 nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 3 PM Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Richard Randolph officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Graveside services will be private.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all that supported them in Mr. Conner's care, but especially to Heidi Thomas and Patsy Garner for their love, devotion, and humor.
