Blandina Ward Yale September 3, 1913 - July 3, 2014 CHARLOTTE - Blandina Ward Yale, 100, of Charlotte, NC, passed into her heavenly home on July 3rd, 2014. Her niece and caregiver was with her at the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George Yale. They had been married for 60 years at the time of his death. Mrs. Yale was born in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Stephen and Della Ward Moxley. Preceding her in death were six brothers and sisters: Bruce Ward, Phama Ward Meyers, Dale Ward, Wade Ward, Kyle Ward and Blain Ward. She is survived by her sister, Edna Nuckolls, of Bradenton, Florida. Also surviving her are 11 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yale had been a member of, her much loved, Memorial United Methodist Church, on Central Avenue, in Charlotte since 1962. Her church held a special place in her heart until her passing. She spoke of her church family often. She retired from Duke Power Co. after 31 years of service. She worked in accounts receivable for small appliances for North and South Carolina. Prior to moving to Charlotte, she had been employed by the F.B.I. in Washington D.C. and worked directly for J. Edgar Hoover. Blandina was as unique and interesting as her first name. She was a bright, energetic, determined and incredibly loyal individual. Her care for her mother and her many friends are testimony to this. Under her determined attitude to accomplish and persevere there was a truly tender and loving heart. She will be terribly missed by her caregiver and niece, Linda Ward O'Keeffe, also of Charlotte. Her love for her husband, George, her church, and the North Carolina mountains, where she had been born and raised were constant and steadfast. Birds, flowers and gardening were interests but her true gift lay in her incredible seamstress skills which included the construction of suits and handmade hats. A visitation in Charlotte will take place on Friday, July 11th, at 10:30 am, at Memorial United Methodist Church. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Don Newman will officiate.
