Bobby Helms Obituary
INDIAN TRAIL -- Mr. Helms, 67, of Indian Trail, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 4431 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail. Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mr. Helms was born on October 8, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late James Carl Helms and Bessie Newell Helms. He retired after having worked his entire life in the car business. Mr. Helms served his country in the United States Navy. He had a passion for watching baseball and football, primarily the Braves and Panthers and loved speaking and spending time with all his Hinson Drive-In friends.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Helms and wife, Lisa, of Monroe; grandchildren, Haley and Hunter Helms of Monroe; sister, Shirley Richardson, of Monroe; and brother, Hubert Helms, of Matthews.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Helms may be made to the American Lung Association of NC, 3801 Lake Boone Trail, P.O. Box 27985, Raleigh, NC 2761. Mr. Helms had a wish that the world be smoke free.
Arrangements for the family are in the care of Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service, Indian Trail / Matthews. An online guest book is available at heritagefuneral.net.

When Bobby & Joe were kids they were never apart for long! It is hard, I know, but it only seems right that they are together again. I am their Mother's cousin (Eva Mullis Rowell) and am the last surviving child of William Pruitt & Kitty Newell Mullis. Your family has our deepest sympathies.
